Dear Minister Mackay:

I am writing to support the development of the Garrick Theatre in Bonavista, Newfoundland. My father, Reg Mouland, was born and raised in Bonavista, and I have had the distinct pleasure to visit there on a number of occasions. He moved, as a young man, to Toronto and met and married my mother. They raised us in the small town of Dorset in Northern Ontario; a town that resembles the community spirit that he missed so much in Bonavista. I loved our visits to Bonavista so much I decided to go to University at Memorial in St. John's. I received my Bachelor of Education in 1996, and during that time I was able to get to know where my family came from, and get to know the people that are a part of my life. Also, during that time, I grew to appreciate the historical significance of a village that was at the heart of Canadian heritage; with it's lighthouse, fishing industry, architecture and people, Bonavista is, in my opinion, a perfect venue for the Garrick Theatre.

There is no doubt that the theatre would help the village economically and make Bonavista a destination for people all over the country. It would be a well deserved addition to the community, and when I go to visit in the near future; I would love to see that the town has developed in a positive and vibrant way.

Yours sincerely,
Chantal Hamilton
